Finn Richards
Finn is a documentary photographer and filmmaker. Drawing on journalism, he explores the underlying stories of people and the environments in which they live. Juxtaposing portraiture with photography of place, his images seek out moments of intimacy in otherwise overlooked places.
His commercial practice uses a documentary approach to try and capture the feeling and mood of a time and place, the results of which often contribute towards image banks. In his personal work he is interested in themes of a social and political nature, and recently completed a degree in International Studies to try to gain a better understanding of the global forces that impact locally on people's lives.
His work has been selected for inclusion in awards and competitions: recently his short documentary film, The Gnomes, was included in the 2020 lineups for both the Fastnet and the Still Voices Film Festivals, and his portrait of British poet Lemn Sissay was shortlisted in the AOP Awards 2020. He recently wrote about the original photography behind The Snug Project for Holy Show magazine.
